Jail-Based Medical Services

Licensed physicians and nursing staff conduct comprehensive health assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient’s clinical presentation. Services include sick call coverage, chronic disease management, preventive screenings, wound and infection care, and evidence-based treatment protocols consistent with correctional healthcare standards.

Allied Correctional Services delivers on-site emergency and triage services for inmates requiring urgent medical attention. Our medical staff respond immediately to health emergencies, performing assessment, stabilization, and coordination with EMS and hospital partners when advanced care is necessary. Each response is designed to reduce risk, preserve life, and ensure continuity of care, in alignment with correctional healthcare standards and facility protocols.

Medication management is conducted under licensed clinical supervision to ensure all prescribed medications are secured, dispensed, and administered safely in compliance with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and facility policy. Services include prescription verification, dose reconciliation, controlled substance accountability, contingency stock oversight, patient education, and coordination with prescribers and pharmacies to promote adherence and therapeutic efficacy while reducing medication errors and diversion risks.

Contracted psychiatric providers deliver diagnostic evaluations, psychotropic medication management, and therapeutic support for inmates with identified or emerging mental health needs. Services address a full spectrum of disorders—from anxiety and depression to severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI)—with an emphasis on stabilization, relapse prevention, and continuity of care during incarceration and transition to community-based treatment.

In partnership with specialized addiction service providers, we deliver comprehensive substance use disorder (SUD) care, including screening, withdrawal monitoring, individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) using evidence-based protocols. These programs support safe detoxification, recovery-oriented care, and reduced recidivism, aligning with state and national best practices for correctional addiction treatment.

Allied Correctional Services provides structured quarterly training and continuing education to ensure all healthcare and custody personnel remain competent, compliant, and confident in their roles within the correctional environment. Training sessions are designed to reinforce evidence-based clinical practices, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance consistent with Ohio Minimum Jail Standards. Core topics include infection prevention and control, suicide prevention, emergency response, medication administration, documentation accuracy, confidentiality, and interdepartmental communication. Each training cycle includes competency verification, case reviews, and performance feedback, promoting a culture of accountability, quality improvement, and operational excellence across all service levels.

Contracted service coordination teams provide individualized case management to ensure inmates receive timely, appropriate, and continuous access to medical, mental health, and social services. Activities include comprehensive needs assessments, care planning, interagency communication, and discharge coordination with community providers. This integrated approach supports successful reentry, continuity of treatment, and improved long-term health outcomes.
