Correctional Healthcare Services for Ohio Jails
Every jail has a different population, staffing model, physical layout, community provider network, and budget. Allied develops targeted services or a complete healthcare program around those conditions. The exact scope is established through the County's contract and facility protocols.

Medical and Nursing Care
Physicians, advanced practice providers where contracted, and nursing professionals provide assessment, treatment, sick call, chronic care, preventive services, wound and infection care, patient education, and
clinical follow-up. Allied may also manage recruiting, credentialing, scheduling, training, and supervision for assigned clinical personnel.

Intake Screening and Health Assessment
Structured receiving screening and follow-up help identify urgent medical needs, behavioral health concerns, suicide risk, intoxication, withdrawal, medication needs, pregnancy, chronic illness, disability, and other conditions early in a person's stay.

Chronic Care and Special Health Needs
Allied coordinates ongoing care for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, respiratory illness, seizure disorders, infectious disease, serious mental illness, pregnancy, mobility limitations, and other medically complex needs.

Emergency Response and Clinical Triage
Clinical staff assess urgent conditions, begin appropriate intervention, coordinate emergency medical services and hospital transfers when necessary, communicate with custody staff, and arrange post-emergency follow-up.

Medication and Pharmacy Management
Medication services may include verification, reconciliation, prescribing coordination, administration oversight, secure storage procedures, controlled substance accountability, refusal follow-up, pharmacy communication, and continuity planning at release.

Behavioral Health and Psychiatric Services
Based on the contracted model, Allied may coordinate screening, clinical evaluation, psychiatric consultation, psychotropic medication management, monitoring, crisis support, suicide prevention collaboration, and community treatment planning. Telepsychiatry may be used when appropriate.

Withdrawal Management and Medication Assisted Treatment
Allied integrates substance use screening, withdrawal risk identification, standardized monitoring, provider-directed treatment, medication-assisted treatment coordination, diversion prevention, overdose education, and community treatment linkage. Available medications and services depend on clinical need, the facility program, and the contract.

Hospital Specialty and Off Site Care
When care cannot be provided in the facility, Allied helps determine clinical need, arrange referrals, communicate relevant information, review outside recommendations, integrate new orders, and track follow-up.

Quality Compliance and Program Management
Allied supports policy development, credentialing oversight, documentation review, continuous quality improvement, medication system review, utilization monitoring, grievance trend review, corrective action planning, performance reporting, and inspection readiness. Services are designed to support applicable Ohio jail standards and facility requirements.

Correctional Staff Training
Quarterly and facility-specific training may address receiving screening, medical emergencies, suicide prevention, withdrawal recognition, medication administration, infection control, documentation, restraints, the Americans with Disabilities Act, CPR, first aid, and other identified needs.

Reentry Coordination
Through Course Connection, eligible participants may receive needs assessment, release planning, treatment linkage, resource navigation, and follow-up during the transition into community care. Availability depends on facility participation, program eligibility, and funding.
